This place has been my little gem growing up in the South Bay. Studying, research, networking, hanging out with friends! I am so happy it's still around and it didn't get closed as Borders went bankrupted
They have a Seattle Best café inside the bookstore. It's cozy studying here in the café. They have a big outdoor patio with chairs and table for smoking people or people just like to get the breathe of fresh air. They have a wide range of selections for books and usually if they don't have it, they can get it in within a day or so.
The only thing I have to complain are their restrooms. It's filthy and dingy. They really need monitoring and custodian service every few hours, not once a day if even.

My favorite local bookstore. I can spend hours here, but I also try to always buy something. I want them to stay in business.

Borders is about to make some changes to what they sell, but haven't seen the changes yet.

This is a nice safe place to spend some time. Sit, have some hot or cold drink, read, whatever.

      Agree, the bathroom is terrible.

My dad would take me to Barnes and Nobles when I was little. He'd let me pick one or two books. It was hard for me to choose so I started this routine.

I grab books that were-- recommended to me, books I read reviews about, books on the New York Times bestsellers(don't hate; they're on the list for a reason and it's 30%off), new books by authors I love, books with topics I'm interested in, and books with covers that interest me(guilty of judging a book by it's cover).

I find a chair and place my large stack on the ground. I start going through each book. I read about the author, synopsis, reviews, and a couple of pages. This process gives me a better idea of whether or not I'll enjoy the book. I don't have a specific genre or type of book. It does have to be well written, even the content is a little trashy. I narrow it down to a smaller stack. I keep reading more pages out of each book until I narrow it down to a few. I'll usually buy one and write the rest down for later.

I go to Borders because this location has more chairs than Torrance Barnes and Noble. It's hard for me to do my crazy routine if I don't have a place to sit. Also, some well known authors come to this location to do book signings. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of books, c.d.s, and d.v.d.s. If they don't have what you're looking for they'll order it to the store for free.

Borders has a free Rewards membership with 25-33% off e-coupons. They can look up your account through your e-mail address and apply whatever discount is valid. All of these perks have turned me into a fan.

      RIP Borders...You will be missed.

You gave me power when other establishments blocked their power outlets from giving life to my laptop. You provided free wifi to all visitors that needed it, without asking for anything in return. You rewarded me with free coffee after purchasing 5 coffees. You even allowed me to eat my sushi here without giving me dirty looks and/or kicking me out...I guess all the books that I purchased here wasn't enough to keep you alive *tears*

I think I speak for many when I say, that you have provided a study haven for those of us shunned from college libraries or simply can't study at home. You provided an orphanage for kids after school, a bonding ground for friends and family and to top it off, you even provided restrooms!

For those reasons and more, you will be missed. ='(

I love this place. It's less crowded than B & N. Less hipster. More substance.

It's semi quiet. I value that on those days where I want to finish that novel I keep coming back for. I like the high bookshelves. I like the space between one side and the other. I can stretch out my leg's on the floor without being in anyone's way. I like how their books are arranged. I like their 20% coupon in their e-newsletter.

Most of all, I like the cute, shy boys that hang out here. Lovely.

Gotta say this place totally Beats B&N. The prices seem to be better here and so is the quality of help you can get. The rewards program that they have is also pretty awesome. Every month or so they send you a new coupon for an extra 20-30% off.

Some places actually charge you for joining a rewards program!! How lame can you get, why should i pay you for a rewards program? And on top of that they boost their prices so they can save you an extra 10% after they jack it up a nice 20%.

So now that i'm done ranting i'd say if you need a book you should come here for it. I've even ordered a couple of books with no problems and no up front cost on my books. That rocks the little cafe here isn't too bad either. The only thing they need is free wifi, and i'll be set.

They also need to get a few more tables and stop letting the werido bums out. I say weirdo because there is one in particular that they let in all the time who wears trash bags and hangs out all over the place. I

Just keep that in mind when you go there, if you go into a random area in the store you might run into someone on the floor wearing a trash bag over their clothes.

I prefer this place over Barnes and Noble because it lacks a big unattractive escalator and the ugly high school hipsters that come with it.

Last time I came here, which was a couple weeks ago, I got a copy of Raymond Carver's Cathedral. After finishing it, I thought Carver to be a genius. Then I thought about where I had bought the book, and at that moment I knew it wasn't Carver's minimalist style that made this book so awesome, it was the Borders selves that gave his stories its magical qualities. Thank you Borders!

(The only reason I give this place a four is because they didn't have the f'ing symbol dictionary I was looking for)

This is so sad but: this is where I hang out on weekends.
Half of the family are serious readers and you can always find us in the local libraries or bookstores. It's so bad that my mother tried to get us to stop reading novels as kids because we would lug books everywhere: at the dinner table, walking to school, in the shower. Borders is like our extended family room - it has a great selection of magazines, music, DVDs, stationery, and books. If I want to buy a book I check the price on Amazon first, but ultimately purchase it from the store (with my 20% Borders member coupon, yeah!).

The last time I had a bad experience there was about 5 years ago, when someone at the counter refused to refund my purchase when I returned a magazine that was missing huge chunks of pages. I was so upset I sent an e-mail to Borders corporate and was so surprised to have a representative call me back within a day, making reassurances that the employee was given a talking to by the store manager. It worked, because I've been back ever since. The Borders near Silver Spur may be closer, but it just isn't the same.

Best part about this store are the signings. It's so out of the way that there's hardly any queues for tickets. Hah! I actually skipped work and stood outside the store at 6:45am for Terry Pratchett tickets (store opens at 9) thinking there ought to be someone there ahead of me. Nope. Just me and another lady for tickets number 1 and 2. I heard later most people just strolled in at their lunchtimes to pick up the tickets. Wouldn't happen in any other Borders for sure.

I like this place lots of selections of books, magazines, DVD's and other stuff. I like that on Saturdays they are opened till 12am. You can kickback and have coffee or other drinks and a little snack sit down read your magazines and books. A big plus is signing up for a membership it's free and you get coupons via email to print out and get discounts on stuff although they are pricey on some things so the coupons help. They also have signings from authors and live entertainment on selected days. Overall a cool place to hang and also kill time.

I know Border's is kind of going out of business, so that may have attributed to my issues with this one. I came during lunch, so I was kind of in a rush. There seemed to be no one who worked there. I was looking for a Mother's Day gift for my mom and getting a suggestion would have been nice.

Luckily, there was a display with some recent best sellers (I got Tina Fey's Bossypants), so I'm happy with my decision.

The other problem was that they had only one guy working the cash registers. He was kind of chatting up the woman he was helping, so I had to stand there and wait a couple of minutes. Had I not been in a rush this would have been fine, but normally they have a couple people working the registers to speed things up.

It seems like they have a lot of book signings there, so that could be a bonus (they have Paul Riser coming up and I saw they had J-Woww couple months ago (one of my biggest regrets is missing that one)).
