So this place should be top of your list when visiting Koln. Pretty much all locals here which makes it worth the trip to walk here from the tourist areas. Good portions are terrific, the kolsh is freash, service is great and prices are very reasonable compared to many other similar establishments. I was taken here years ago by a friend from the area while vising for work. Just went back recently and it is just as good as I remember it. Try the mamoth -sized pork knuckle and you will not be able to contain your smile.

The Gaffel Kolsch I had here was better (and cheaper) than the one I had somewhere else and the place looks fantastic just as you would want a typical German Beerhall to look.

Apart from the TV screens that is. Yes, Sky sports exists in Germany now and was showing a match between two teams I had never heard of, before flicking to a different match with 2 more teams I had also never heard of (Paderborn anyone?).

Only 1.40 for a Kolsch too, but then I was east of the river (I bet they say that round here).

The smell here was just perfect too, the inspiration for another scent in my range of perfumes; Eau de Brauhaus to be launched with a limited range of Pretzl shaped handbags.

Great pub environment with warm welcoming dining room. Professional waiters keep the Koelsch glasses full. Outstanding German comfort food, specializing in schnitzel. Attending the FSB Fair, we eat here twice in a week, and always entertain. They manage big groups effortlessly.

This place used to be way better than it is now. During our last visit the food was very mediocre (bad potato salad, overcooked steak, cold food). The service, however, was top notch, very attentive and polite.
Although the prices aren't very high, one still feels short changed given the quality of the food.
