This Costa Coffee location is one of two in Burnley town centre, the location seemed to be a little strange to me, being on the Ground Floor of the Tesco Extra store, right next to the lifts, obviously, this can be handy to pop in before or after your shopping.
Having this store does come at the expense of having a Tesco Cafe, I do prefer the latter as they usually offer a greater range of hot food compared to a standard coffee shop, I would have thought a Tesco Cafe which serves Costa Coffee (similar to most of their locations), would have made more sense.
There is a small seating area here, it pretty much looks and feels like a regular Costa store. I did find service to be a little slow, the staff were in the back when I arrived and there was nothing to get a barista's attention, and I always feel uncomfortable having to shout to get them to hear me when the staff are in the back room.
I did find the coffee to lack flavour, and the selection of food also seemed depleted, despite not being busy at all in the middle of the day.
2* - Useful while shopping in Tesco, but this location could be so much better if you do have time to take the short walk into the town centre, there is a larger Costa as well as many better alternatives.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Qype User (jowadd…)Manchester, United Kingdom1415629 Jan 2009
Costa coffee is in tesco. They sell normal bog standard coffee like any other big coffee chain. Ok for on the go after you've done your weekly shop.

If you're looking for a Costa coffee shop in Finsley Gate in Burnley you may find yourself struggling to find it. It is, in fact, located inside the very large Tesco Express store on the bottom floor. Since Tesco had a recent makeover, the Tesco café has gone and has been replaced with a far more pleasant and sophisticated Costa café. You'll find the selection of hot drinks here you would expect from any other branch of Costa as well as sandwiches and paninis. The food and drinks taste great but are a little on the expensive side. Service is quick enough and friendly but due to the location of this café within a supermarket, it's unlikely that you'll find yourself visiting there unless you're already popping to Tesco for something else. It's just outside of the town centre so isn't really convenient for a quick coffee and a sandwich if you're out shopping in town and there are other cafes which are far more conveniently located for a break from a day shopping in Burnley.
