Oh dear, Phil R. really was drunk by the time he got here, bearing in mind this IS NOT the pub next to the tube station.

It does have a toilet, which is clean enough.

It does have a few ales, but myself and Phil R. opted for the Fosters to be on the safe side, as most the beers on tap were fruity southern ales, rather than the decent bitter you can get in most pubs round Muswell Hill.

I am sure they do serve Whiskey and Ginger too (like the ones we had in The Woodman Phil!).

The staff are downright unhelpful. They don't take card for less than a tenner, which unless you're in a large group is more than most rounds cost. They didn't tell me they did cash back, so I ended up buying drinks I didn't want. They did however offer the local next to me cash back moments later! Not happy!

As Michelle said, it used to be a rough pub where you went to get a joint (so I hear). Since the refurb, it is nicer inside, but now doesn't have a regular clientele, which means it is a bit disjointed.

Haven't tried the thai food so can't comment.

I used to live on the same road, and it wasn't my local then. It never will be, and shouldn't be yours either!

Two words - USED TO.... be my local now not really.

This place has a bit of a bad reputation, until a couple of years ago it used to be really rough, very football hooligan types frequenting, then it got shut down (so I believe) re-done and opened up with much higher prices - thus pulling a different crowd. This worked for a long while and I have enjoyed many a sunny afternoon sat in their hidden beer garden enjoying the place and a nice cold Leffe beer.

All that has now stopped, off came the Leffe on tap, in came the amazingly overpriced small leffe bottles. Ok plan B, Cherry beer - out it went, ok plan C, Duvel - out it went!!!! Oh my God!!! Yes they have a range of English Ales but I don't drink ale! SO many people drank the belgian beers so they get rid of THEM ALL?!?!?!

So, I stopped going. PLUS, not only had it stopped serving good beer but on more and more occasions I walked into a very stuffy and clammy pub. The air feels quite stale and not so nice to be in. When the football is on it is chaotic, you literally can not move, especially when it's Arsenal.

DO NOT EAT THE THAI FOOD. It can be great but it can be awful, on my last meal I sent the food back due to the incredibly long black hair wrapped around my spare rib (I have blond hair) - eeuurgh!!! I've also eaten Rubber fish cakes and dodgy chicken. Have also eaten amazing chicken but had more bad than good so would NOT recommend you eat there - or really drink there!

Alright, alright. Sorry. It appears I was so intoxicated I got two places mixed up. Easy done.

So, just to clarify, it does have a good selection of drinks (though more southern than northern tipples), it does have a toilet and I don't remember much else.

      F**king useless I am, then.

A basket of prawn crackers to ease my hunger and a nice pint of mild to quench my thirst. Late night bliss.

This pub always has a good selection of ales and regularly has special events which increase the selection further. They do good thai food including the fishiest prawn crackers outside Thailand (I cannot verify this). When I say fishiestI mean as in fishy tasting, not as in inspiring suspicion or doubt.butter wouldn't melt in their mouths if they had themwait a food metaphorfor food. ConfusionI've lost my audience.

The layout is good. There's the main pub section, with a TV (there's a surpise!) for the sport, then a curve round the bar area where the sport is less in your face until the pub makes an emergency stop and is suddenly a Thai Restaurant. Some pubs..many pubs serve Thai foodthis one took the inside of a Thai restaurant and dropped it in the corner of the pub, so if you want a more intimate, restauranty experiencetheres an app for that!

This is the sister pub..why is it always sister? Not PC. Ok. This is the sibling of unspecified gender pub of the Nobody Inn at Newington Green.

This pub is named after the inventor of television and so the super large TV screen at the back is rather fitting I suppose.

John Baird offers a great range of ales, I counted five different ones when I was here.

They have comfortable seating throughout, and the decor is nicely done but I just could not really settle well here.

They serve Thai food here. I have never had deep fried ice cream before, how interesting. Shame they cannot cook a good Sunday roast 6.95 (my friend said not to bother it is not that good).

Not a baaaad pub but not particularly good either. Never tried the thai restaurant within it , usually has a selection of real ales on but i get the impression that they don't know anything about ale as they always seem to have a horrible selection on when i go in and i've had a few iffy pints in here too so unless the three compasses on hornsey high st burns down they've seen the last of my money.

A great traditional pub with a not so traditional tie restaurant round the back. Always has a fantastic selection of guest ales. I like drinking here in the winter, makes you feel all cosy inside.

Good pub, nice atmosphere, always sport on the telly. What sets it apart is the Thai 'wing' of the pub. Fantastic authentic Thai food, either in the pub or sat in the more formal dining area. If you're in Muswell after some Thai food, this is the only place to go.

Had a pint here for the first day of the new footie season and some Thai food. £5.95 for Thai Red curry and a coupel of vegtable spring rolls. Pretty good place for a bite and to watch the game.
