Of all the sushi places I've tried on the west coast, this has been my favorite. The wasabi is no joke--completely fresh.
My husband and I ordered the cashew broccoli roll, the Harvey roll (my fav), and the asparagus roll. The rice was perfectly sticky and all of the veggies were crisp and delicious.
The service was wonderful. We even split the mochi!
I can't speak to the negative reviewers. I had a great experience! Highly recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alan L.Brookings, United States7181222 Nov 2014
I hate to give bad reviews but I feel like I have to say something after the last meal I ate here.
I grew up eating sushi and am no stranger to Japanese food or culture, I am half Japanese myself. The food is just plain gross here. Not fresh, not of good quality and not prepared well. Service was not bad I will say. Sushi Nigiri was pretty strange. The rice was the best part, but still nothing special.
Avoid the Salmon at all costs it was not fresh and not of good quality. Beware it seems they mask the fishy odors with sauce....fresh fish doesn't smell bad....
Also very limited selections of fish....glass case was virtually empty????...
Prices not bad but you get what you pay for.
In all honesty I won't be back and I gave them 2 chances....Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christina S.Grass Valley, United States010317 Aug 2014
I've eaten and made a lot of sushi. I could have and often do roll better sushi than what I got here. This place was average at best and overpriced for what you get. I read so-so reviews so I stuck with the basics, tuna, salmon and eel rolls. Small rolls and some pieces didn't even have the basic ingredient in them.
The table was sticky but in their defense I think it was clean-ish, just sticky material on the top of the table or something. We moved to another and it was still sticky but not as bad.
Waitress was nice but her and the chef kept arguing or discussing what went in the rolls. The waitress told us that they had just bought the restaurant and it was their first day open. She told us this a couple times as we asked for things (ie gluten free soy sauce, didn't have rolls or items on the menu). Maybe that's a good excuse for not having your act together. If I'd just bought a restaurant, I'd make sure that my first day open I'd at least know what went in the rolls.
In summary, too much money for what you getHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Koolaid H.Medford, United States151839623 Apr 2012First to Review
This being the only sushi place in town....everyone came flocking in. The environment was aesthetically pleasing given its location. It provided just enough charm to be pleasing to the general eye.
Although they offered a nice firm selection of Sake, the bar was much too small to sit and enjoy. Sushi portions sad to say were too small and overpriced. An $80 order of sushi barely fed 4 of us which was very disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Togame B.Crescent City, United States016 May 2012
Coming from a large city like Washington D.C., and having frequented many types of sushi establishments over time, I have to say I was rather disappointed with this one.
PROS:
-Decor: The restaurant looks very nice on the inside, with all the decor one would expect from a cozy and conservative sushi bar, so it's easy to tuck in and feel at home.
-Presentation: The food was presented beautifully, with lots of colors and aesthetic designs to make the plates look very appetizing.
CONS:
-Price: One of the very first things we noticed were the prices. The menu offered so little in quantity, but the prices for the sushi were through the roof. I understand sushi is always more expensive than your typical fare, but even for good sushi, these prices were a little over the top. To make matters worse, there is a minimum twenty dollar ($20) order requirement if you plan to pay with a debit/credit card. My husband and I were hoping to catch a relatively cheap lunch special, but since we only had debit on hand, we were forced to order more expensive entrees than we would have otherwise. Kind of defeats the purpose of a lunch special if you're forced to pay the price of a regular meal anyway.
-Service: I understand that everyone has a bad day now and then, but the service we received was atrocious. Our waitress left us at the table with our menus for a very long time before she remembered to come back and take our drink orders, and left us sitting there longer still once we had decided what we wanted. And the problems didn't end there.
-Food: First, my husband received his salad, which was nothing special. Although it looked beautiful, it was smeared with Thousand Island dressing, which he doesn't like. Normally, good sushi establishments make their own house dressing, which is fine. But, in this case, Thousand Island was all they had, so my husband couldn't eat it.
I ordered the R&R; the Unagi Maki rolls. I specifically asked them to leave off the avocado, and lo and behold, there was avocado in the sushi, so I had to send it back. By that time, they still hadn't taken my husband's salad away, and his food hadn't even arrived yet. Finally, his food (regular teriyaki chicken) had arrived about the same time my second plate of sushi had, along with two free bowls of soup to make up for the mistakes. His chicken was bland at best... tasting more like it had been soaked in a thin teriyaki solution rather than a rich thick sauce. The vegetables were not cooked, or even seasoned in any way. They made the plate look lovely, but offered no substance - even more wasted money on an already expensive entree. ($13)
The waitress finally came back and took the bowl of salad way, but when she had taken my first plate of sushi, she accidently took my chopsticks with it, and didn't return. The tables weren't equipped with silverware of any kind, so I had to take some chopsticks from an empty table beside us since we couldn't get the waitress' attention. Anyone out there who struggles with chopsticks would probably have to go out of their way to get their hands on silverware, sorry to say.
And to top it all off, we had to have a different waitress bring us the bill and check us out since our first one was too busy hanging out by the cash register talking with her friends and co-workers to pay us any mind.
All in all, I would have to say our experience was very poor... I was looking forward to eating there so much since there isn't another sushi place nearby for miles, and I would have been a frequent customer had it not been for this lackluster first impression. I don't think I will be giving it another chance anytime soon, which is so disappointing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Terese M.Ontario, United States6341621 Jun 2015
I use to love this place when I lived I crescent city but recently I came back for a few months and came here and it was not what I remember. I order the same thing every time and every time it has been made differently. Some times The roll fall apart as soon as you pick them up as if they are not rolled properly. And on our last visit all the employees were fighting one of them yelling obscenities. I love sushi and this place is good enough for me to return but only because I have no other options.

Feeling stuffed! First visit to crescent city, crescent roll was a good choice, nice little kick to it. Topped with steamed Gyoza and miso.
