This is a real nice place. The new Ramsay menu is simple and cheap (though my wife tells me; "it's not cheap, it's good value"). Best of all its laid back and not very pretentious. The decor is a bit hard and shiny and the room is a bit dingy. When we went the staff were also incredibly nervous and jumpy. Maybe they've been warned to be on best behavior.

However the food was cracking. Belly of pig was a special and this was terrifically cooked.

It is also about 30 seconds from my house, which, I think makes me like it a lot more.

As Timeout so rightly points out Gordon Ramsay may never step foot inside this gastropub in Chiswick but its enough that his name is on the pub sign to bring in all-comers. The gastropub is located a shortish stroll from Chiswick High Road. You walk past quite a few tempting restaurants on the way but the Ramsay name is a draw that can't be denied.

The pub is rather large and L-shaped. The front room has two giant comfy (single) chairs and today it was cold enough to justify having a lit fireplace. By the side there are two Scrabble board games (complete with a dictionary) and some dominoes. Walking around the corner you see that down the long length of the pub is a bar and the restaurant. Not much of a comely feeling if you know what I mean but couldn't tell if that was because the place was very quiet or the decor of the room.

We took advantage of a set menu deal of 2 courses for £13.50 or 3 for £16.50. The offering on the set menu is limited - two starters, two mains and two desserts - the trade-off I guess for the offer (starters on the a la carte seem to be about £5-£6 and mains £14-£17.)

The food seemed to come out relatively quickly though there was a bit of a lag between the collection of our starters and delivery of our mains. Food was very tasty and clearly top quality ingredients and great care in preparing the dish.

Portion was reasonable without being too generous though I guess some might think that pub food (gastro or not) should err on the side of large so might have something to say about the portion. All I know is that after the two courses I was quite stuffed.

The service was very friendly. Almost too friendly as our waitress must have checked up on us about ten times throughout the meal - sometimes mere seconds after we'd started into our food. Its not like the place was heaving so if we'd really wanted her attention we could have easily flagged her down.

The gastropub is a long way to hike from Central London to sample another one of Gordon's holdings so was happy to get the chance to do it today. What would have made our experience memorable today, though, would have been an appearance by the big man himself am I asking too much? LOL

Local Chiswick pub... friendly bar staff, the usual beers (and a couple I'd never heard of). Could use a little more character inside with some comfortable chairs or couches instead of just tables everywhere, but it's a good neighborhood pub. I can't comment on the food as I only had a couple pints, but I've heard it's come under new management a couple times in the past few months, so it's anyone's guess if it's any good or not.

This pub is a real gem, a local favourite amongst residents of Chiswick. The selection of ales and stouts on tap is good, the service is superb, the food is absolutely mouth watering, and the ambience is lovely. I cannot recommend this pub restaurant highly enough and it is a real asset to the local area.

I think this place is verymeh. The food is pretty mediocre, the decor is uninspiring, the atmosphere is non-existent, the service is slow. The only thing that is not average are the prices, which are FAR too high, considering. Don't get me wrong, this place is not terrible, it's just very forgettable. You can get much better food for the same or less money at other places just round the corner, not least The Roebuck and The High Road Brasserie

Very impressed, warm open fire, cosy dark wood surroundings, has a tradition feel with a more modern look. Plenty of space around the table so you are not crammed in. Was there early eve mid week, busy enough not to feel conspicuous but quiet enough to make it your own. There was a group hanging out playing monopoly, and I was just there to sample the wine with a few friends. Menu looked tasty, will try it next time. Service great! A bit out of the way from the high street, if I had known it was here I would have been a regular a long time ago.

Tried this once with friends. Food was fine if a little over priced for avgastro pub. Device was a little slow. Not special enough - Chiswick had better more centrally located.

The setting doesn't match the ambitions of this place, however once you get inside things improve. It's very reasonably priced and the food was actually really good. Have threatened to go back several times but it's a bit of a trek to get there...
