Great pub stopped here on a
mid break. Really accommodating for dogs which was why we chosen the place. Got really lucky as the food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Staff were really nice too seemed like it was a great team.
We enjoyed a terrine black sausage starter with onion rings side. This was followed by Sea bass which was cooked to perfection and roasted turbot which was equally as nice. We finished the meal sharing a chocolate brownie with an extra too scoops of icecream. Again really delicious.
Overall it was an excellent meal and we will defiantly be visiting again when we are back in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (datca…)Gloucester, United Kingdom4124221 Jan 2009
A country pub on the A417 in Hartpury. Open fires and a very pretty pub. What a pity that I found the landlord quite surly and the fact that a loud TV dominated the main bar. I go to country pubs to try and escape the unexceptional sight of a TV tuned into sky sports. I want a country pub with cosy open fires and maybe some quiet background music. Not the sound of some sports presenter screeching on about who scored what goal. Anyway having my drink slopped down in front of me and being grunted at isn't going to make me a happy chappy. I wouldn't bother with this pub to be honest as there are a couple of better pubs further down the road.

A lovely venue and a fresh, tasty first course, but it as so disappointing to ask for a pudding then be left with the menu but no staff to take your order. On going to the bar 4 staff are sat chatting and announce that the chef has now left and puddings cannot be provided as a blow torch is required. If staff had been apologetic I might have felt better, but they were clearly not interested.
It's such a shame that staff spoiled what would have been a pleasant meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (pubs_I…)Gloucester, United Kingdom0917 Dec 2012
Expensive drinks, average overpriced food from the visit I made yesterday, their second day of opening so doesn't give much hope does it.
