Awful place with terrible food and service. Honestly felt like they were being racist against my table full of Asians. Many tables were sat and had ordered after us but got their food before us - same dishes that we ordered. Some of those tables even finished their meals before ours arrived.
After 45 minutes, we asked about our food and then they all magically turned up. The table next to us confirmed with the server that the fish of the day was frozen and not caught that day. The steak we order was tough and so was the lamb.
Lastly, the floor of my seat was littered with food. They just sat us at a dirty table.
I recommend the Indian restaurant down the street instead.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shawn A.Melbourne, United States09224 Feb 2024

It is the only restaurant open on Mondays
The green lip mussels are out of this world.

Funky stylish bar with exceptional service and great food.
Perfectly situated on a corner to take in views of Picton harbour and marina. Good outdoor seating and lots of tables inside. Great for lunch and also a buzzing bar at night.
We sat in for lunch. I had a haloumi burger with a brioche bun. Delicious! Served with crunchy fresh fries. Others at the table had : margarita pizza with pesto and fresh seafood chowder. Everyone raved about the food.
We also sampled one of their new cocktails- ginger and frangelico mmmm yum. They are releasing a new lemon meringue cocktail soon too. Will be back to taste it.
Big shout out to awesome manager Lauren.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Keith P.Woodside Plaza, Redwood City, United States0836 Mar 2023
Let's face it, Oxleys is the classic tourist stop in Picton. Usually that might be a bad thing. Not so. The food was excellent!!! Buttery, tender calamari. A giant piece of fish in our fish n chips and a delicious chocolate brownie for desert. Fun atmosphere in a classic building. It's worth the stop. Just be sure to make a reservation because tables can be hard to come by.

Not many vegan options in Picton, but Oxley's looked promising. I tried to order the plant powered burger but they were out. Instead, I opted for the Mediterranean pasta - something that could be modified vegan. It was delicious - but a few hours later, I'm not feeling so great. I am worried there was parmesan in the pasta as the dish contains pesto. I thought they would make new vegan pesto for me, but clearly not. Overall, I'd still recommend but if you have dietary requirements then be extra careful.

The fish and chips and seafood chowder were outstanding. The atmosphere was very enjoyable.

Stopped into Oxleys after taking the ferry over from the north island. The restaurant has a cool sea/fisherman theme, and offers reasonably priced food.
Let me just preface this post with: I would never return here.
As soon as we walked in at approx. 5pm we weren't greeted by any waitstaff, even though the restaurant was empty and we could see them staring at us. After we were eventually seated, we were immediately asked about drinks, which seemed to upset the server when we weren't totally sure on what we wanted/what local beer is good to try. After we were brought our drinks we then had to wait about 15-20 min to put our food order in, which seemed like an odd amount of time given that we were our servers only table and were making the "I'm ready to order" eye contact with her.
Our food was just okay. Not bad, not good, not memorable, nothing I'd ever recommend. The food was warm and filling but not satisfying by any means.
After we finished our food we sat with our empty plates for another 20 min, trying to get the attention of our server again so that we could get back on the road towards our final destination. Eventually we got a different staff member to take our plates and drop our check but again, no return or help actually paying for our bill until we eventually had to go get someone.
Overall below average and boring food coupled with the bad service is what knocked my review from three to two stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - BK R.Broken Arrow, United States73713028 Dec 2016
We had the steamed green lipped muscles and it was an excellent choice . Plan to order some extra bread to soak up all the goodness that comes with this meal.
They also offered a good wine selection to go with any meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jocelyn B.Camden Wyoming, United States581955 Jan 2018
This place was recommended by our hotel. We had a reservation but were told to wait at the bar for our table. When we finally were seated, the waitress took our order and seemed miffed that we didn't order alcoholic drinks (we had been wine tasting all day) . From that point all service was pretty non existent. We waited 50 minutes for our food to come- without a single word from our servers. I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was bland, unflavored, and unsalted. It also had beets on it- which was strange . My partner got the muscles - which he enjoyed (really hard to screw up fresh muscles). My sister ordered pizza and she said that it was undercooked. You're on vacation- pick somewhere else- waste of a meal .
